I]’m a simple woman who struggles each day to live her best life and serve God’s purposes. I am a mother who lives each day to inspire and encourage her children to live out their true purposes in life. I am part of a larger family….those related to me by blood and those connected to me at heart. I attempt to encourage and inspire them too. I am the grateful recipient of encouragement and inspiration from those around me who generously offer me their friendship. I share here a little bit of my beautiful life. I hope something here encourages you on your journey through life….beauty is all around.
That is the philosophical….now the practical. I am mom to two amazing teenagers (I guess they are not teenagers anymore…I just barely got out of calling them my “children”…..I am not ready for “young adults”) Elizabeth is 20 and Andrés is 21. Elizabeth is a junior at Concordia Univ. and Andres is a music student at Southwestern College and is a very active musician and songwriter busy with his band, Fusse. Andres also is Concordia’s worship music leader as assisting with the youth praise band. He also gives guitar and drum lessons (his youngest student is 7 and his oldest is probably near 70….I am told he is a very patient teacher!) I also help care for my mother and miss helping with my grandfather’s care as he went to Heaven in January at 99 1/2. I miss him. My family keeps me grounded and helps me live out my call to love. They are sweet recipients and givers of love.
I was an attorney before being asked to serve in Mexico as Director of Cristo Para Todas Las Naciones. You can check out our blog here: (www.cptlnmexico.wordpress.com ) and yes, I travel across the border to Tijuana every week.
I am also privileged to help people connect with each other and with service opportunities with Concordia Church in Chula Vista, California (www.concordiachurch.com). I love it there because it is a place for real people and serious faith. Over the last year, my time has been absorbed by being part of a mission planting team with our church serving a new community by launching a preschool which opened on August 3, 2009. We opened with 125 students and will likely hit capacity in the following 60 days.
Scrapbooking has become another passion of mine, over the last couple of years at least. Yes, it is a little bit about the art but it is much more about documenting the story of our lives…..what is important to us and that we were here. However, with all the extra responsibility of launching a new school and church, my scrapbooking has gone by the wayside. I am looking forward to having an opportunity to return to this favorite hobby. But I am enjoying what I am doing now more than I am missing my scrapbooking. I feel privileged to be a part of this great project.

thank you for the invitation, I will be there with my 11yr old daughter.
I wish I could come and join such a fun group. Unfortunately since April 1, is Palm Sunday, I must pick up some Palm Branches, donated by Estrada Nursery in La Puente, CA, transport them to St. Johns in Montebello, CA. Then join a group of congregational members who will work together to decorate the church for Palm Sunday. We still don’t have a pastor so we pretty much have to work as a group to keep the church going.
I would have loved to participate in this activity because I am fascinated by Scrapbooking. and I have tons of pictures.
Have a Great Time!!!!!!!
Unable to attend, must decorate church for Palm Sunday
Have Fun
Hi Melissa,
Thanks for inviting and helping me with my first attempt at scrapbooking. You continue to amaze and inspire me with all that you do! …
Thank you for your kind comments. God bless you as you serve Jesus each and every day with the fire of the Holy Spirit with in you.
Your blog site is a blessing to read.
Your freind in Jesus, Matthew.
Hi Melissa, Let it be known to you that I had stopped and noticed the beauty around you. Anywhere this is an evidence that I had enjoyed to stay longer than necessary on your blog. I read as far back as April 15, 2007. The post “Stop and notice the beauty around you” is really a coincidence with what’s happening today. This is amazing. Thank you for your continuous encouragement and thoughtfulness. God’s blessings on your wonderful work.
Hola Melissa,, me dio mucho gusto conocerla, Gracias por la invitación a la conferencia de la LWLM, de verdad lo aprecio mucho
bendiciones

Hi Melissa,
We’re looking for someone who is familiar with Spanish hymns and would like to ask a few questions. Please email if you can.
Martha & Mary
Dear Melissa, Today, Thursday, Jan. 29, I read of Grandpa’s passing.
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints”!
He has been “freed from his chains” and is truly “in the presence of all his people in the courts of the house of the Lord”!
I want to thank you for inviting me the LWML convention. It was amazing, so much they do and how God bless each and every lady present at this event.
I’m so thankfull that you invited me and I got to experiance this, to the fullest. Now I’m back, so much to do, so little time, where should I start? Gosh! So many question and a Heart loging to praise the Lord…
Thank you for support and encouragement, now is my turn to return to God a little of so much, He has giving me and my family.
Gracias que Dios te Bendiga Y te guarde…
