Beautiful experiential photography….

Look at photographer, Jesh de Rox’s site.  In addition to having a very cool name, his work is amazing and a whole experience.  When you get to the main section, click on “experiential galleries” and click on “portraits”.  His work draws you into the moment.

Attitude of Gratitude…

I lifted this from my friend Lynne´s blog. Thanks Lynne and Albert!

To educate yourself for the feeling of gratitude means to take nothing for granted, but to always seek out and value the kind that will stand behind the action. Nothing that is done for you is a matter of course. Everything originates in a will for the good,
which is directed at you. Train yourself never to put off the word or action for the expression of gratitude.”
-Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965)

Surrender study….

We had a good study last night.  We are looking at issues of surrender and what that means in our life and what role it has in the development of faith.  Surrender is important in any relationship…..

The lesson last night was entitled, “True Greatness”  I was really drawn to the video clip which highlighted some of the paradoxes in discovering true greatness and the clash of value systems.  Giving is receiving, losing is finding, poor is rich, weakness is strength, serving is ruling, ….. lose you life and you will find it.  We are so attached to our schtuff, huh? (the things or people who mean security to us).  How does being bound to material things affect our life.  Last week we looked at the key to significance.  We usually think of status as what makes us significant…….in this study we are looking at surrender as a key to significance……wild, huh?  Surrender issues are hard…..they have to do with trust.  I am looking forward to next week’s lesson: “Wild Gratitude” and especially “Ultimate Trust.”  In the noise of everyday life, it is good to reflect….and to embark on this journey together as a group of women. It is a good thing to do life together. Let me know if you want to join us next Tuesday at 7pm.

Paint on layout….

Experimenting with paint a la Wilna on this simple layout.  Sometimes one word summarizes all you want to say. Use one word to create an entire layout. For more ideas, there is a cute website that challenges scrapbookers to create layouts based on one word that the team chooses.  This week it is “go”….you will love the creative work of this team.  My one word on this layout is “delight”….. Using Andres’ favorite photo of Amelie I write about how she delights in everything and how much she teaches others around her to do the same.

Happy Birthday Ryan!

Ryan turned 19!  We went out to dinner with Ryan and his mom in Old Town on Friday night.  Ryan hung out with Andres over the weekend…..they had to escape the scrapbooking ladies on Saturday by going to the beach!  Church on Sunday and after, a special treat……Tacos El Gordo.  TJ tacos, just north of the border.  Ryan passed on Tongue or Tripe Tacos….he ordered Tacos de Carne Asada and Tacos de Adobada

Day of Creativity….

We had a fun day.  The daddys (and granddad) were very good today and kept the babies for Leesa, Susan, Kristen and Stacey!   We welcome Susan, Kristen, and Gaby to our Day of Creativity!  We worked on a variety of projects.  I should have taken some photos but I was TOO BUSY CREATING!  I worked on a mini album from the photos I took of little Amelie in her tutu……I decided to make it a “once upon a time” fable about Princess Amelie….. This mini album has its own little case…I bought it at the Scrapbook Oasis in Irvine on the day I picked up Andres from college….

On Creativity

In case you missed this video I posted a while back, it is worth watching.  Educator Sir Ken Robinson talks about the importance of teaching creativity.  This is a fascinating subject.  I am reading, “Cracking Creativity:The Secrets of Creative Genius” by Michael Michalko.  I will post more on it as I get into it…..this will probably take me all summer, with the back load on projects I have now….
