Will you help pray….?

Concordia Church is proposing a new mission plant in the Eastern part of Chula Vista…. a new community called Otay Ranch.  We desire to be a force for God and for good. We have been working with the city for more than 1 1/2 years on finding the best way to build a church, innovative day school program, large preschool and community center.  Unfortunately, a conceptual drawing of the master planned design had a park Towne Center in the middle of the property that we are purchasing.  A park is a good thing and even a park in the middle of a church property is a good thing….but there would be no space for the church/school/community center with this configuration.  We requested that the park be moved to the corner of the lot which would increase its access to the public and give us space to build the church campus.  Wednesday was our formal hearing before the Planning Commission.  It was three hours of nail=biting proceedings.  Our proposal is not a neat project that fits into the normal approval process and the Planning Commission denied both of our requests (a secondary one had to do with a public access right through the middle of the private property)…..  This means that we now go on to the City Council on appeal.

We feel it is of critical importance to raise up 200 prayer partners who will daily remember this mission launch in their prayers and be willing to receive email requests to pray for immediate needs.  No matter where you live….across the street or across the world, if you want to help us impact this region for God and for good, you can help us pray for this project.  We need your partnership for this time as city governments are not too friendly to church projects, you know.  Will you be a prayer partner with us?  Let me know please.  Either you can leave me a comment below or you can email me privately at mgsalomon@gmail.com

We may go before the City Council as early as Dec 11.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the
mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and
foam and the mountains quake with their surging….”Be still, and know
that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted
in the earth.”   The LORD Almighty [Lord God of the armies] is with
us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.  (Psalm 46 selected verses)
