A vision of the future….

A vision of the future…….interesting video by Microsoft….a look at 2019.  Scroll a little down and see the full five minute version.

Hymns of the faithful….

Lent is a time when we get to sing the old hymns.  I attend the praise service so only when we have these special services do we get to sing the old hymns…… I whispered to Andres at the Ash Wednesday service, “I am so partial to the hymns written before 1570”. He said, “and I am partial to the hymns written after 1990!”

Here is another good one.  “Be Still My Soul”  (Stille, meine Wille, dein Jesus hilft siegen)

This is one verse:

Be still, my soul: when dearest friends depart,
And all is darkened in the vale of tears,
Then shalt thou better know His love, His heart,
Who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears.
Be still, my soul: thy Jesus can repay
From His own fullness all He takes away.

And here is the midi file:

Or, how about “O Sacred Head, Now Wounded” and all 11 verses.  How about this verse:

What Thou, my Lord, hast suffered, was all for sinners’ gain;
Mine, mine was the transgression, but Thine the deadly pain.
Lo, here I fall, my Savior! ’Tis I deserve Thy place;
Look on me with Thy favor, vouchsafe to me Thy grace.

The midi file:

“Lord, keep us steadfast in Your Word.”

“Stricken, smitten and afflicted.”

This can be an alternate devotional time you have….singing and reading some of the hymns of the church that Christians have sung for hundreds of years.  Music is such a comfort for the believer.
