Funeral on Good Friday….

I went to a funeral yesterday on Good Friday…..the ultimate object lesson.  Pastor had a powerful message. What most lingers in my memory was his reminder…….”yes, it’s Friday and this is the pain of death and separation …..but Sunday’s coming!”

Yes the pain was present, palpable, the burden oppressive that even breathing was labored….it was immediate and real.  The present heaviness was such a contrast to what was held up as just ahead, past the next hill……that expectation of joy and the lifting of the burden….almost physically opened the airways.

I think I will remember this all year round……..    “Sunday’s coming!”  ….. and remember to live in expectation and excitement for that day.
