It is pure joy working with and watching children. I love it when I am at Concordia Church and Preschool and I love it when I am across the border with with children in Tijuana. Day of the Child was a great opportunity to teach a large group of children about God and how to grow closer to Him, know Him better and love Him more. More than 100 children spent about 5 hours with us. They were good students learning about God, the 10 commandments, simple prayers, how to understand God when we live difficult circumstances. Children just accept as true the news of God and His grace and mercy. In Mexico pinatas are part of all celebrations. I love the pure joy of the pinata for the child. It’s a bit of terror for the adults when they see the children swing that stick to hit the pinata….but the children just love it.
Joy and trust. I wish it was this way with adults. Maybe that is why Jesus encourages us to “become like children” so that we can see Jesus, accept what He is anxious to offer us freely. Faith. I have been thinking as we go through this series of “Change…for the better” how as people of faith we must be people of joy. That may be the stretch for us as adults, burdened by the many cares of our day, but get around children and model them….they have the inside track apparently!
